I visited the We-Impact Center in Wanguocheng MOMA for movie night recently. It’s a promising addition to Beijing’s sustainability scene and an interesting business.
We-Impact is an unusual and innovative approach to social enterprise in Beijing that incorporates all three facets of sustainability: economic, environmental, and social. With these in mind, the three co-founders created a physical center to help educate the public on sustainable living, and also run a boutique sustainability consultancy on the side to make sure the center stays financially viable. One of their first clients was a large eco-fashion show that took place last year in Shanghai.
The center itself is a mix of mutli-purpose rooms. There’s a kitchen intended for organic cooking and healthy eating education, a meditation room, a large space used for movies and in the future yoga classes, and even a bar for cocktail events. There’s also professional photography equipment in the back that’s available for outside rent (another part of the economic sustainability plan).
For those living near Wanguocheng MOMA in Chaoyang, We-Impact seems like a great upcoming spot to connect with others interested in sustainability. Check out their website for information on future events and programs. They are open to new ideas for events, so if you’re feeling creative, contact them to get involved!
